Writing a resume is thought of as an unnecessary pre requisite in the hunt for employment. Candidates fail to grasp the actual theme and purpose behind a single paper. In their opinion, a piece of paper containing necessary information related to the candidate’s qualification and experiences can be no judge of what skills and qualifications that a person actually possesses. How can it portray the real picture of the professional in dead words?

If same sort of questions pop in your head too, you need to find the answer to such questions quickly. The thing is, no one is against the point that a resume can’t exhibit the true and colorful picture of an individual. However, in the world of employment and industry, it is widely used as a tool to examine skills and abilities of a candidate. If, for a moment, you imagine yourself sitting in the position of a recruiter, it may help you understand the situation on better terms. Think of yourself as a recruiter whose job is hunt for the appropriate candidates for the job openings. If there would be no policy related to resume sending or job application, imagine how many candidates you would need to interview on daily basis? How tiresome the job could get? Therefore, as an employer, resume is an asset that enables them to choose a handful of the candidates according to the resumes they’ve offered and then after interviewing the candidate they decide the best fix for the job. Does the process seem fair to you now? I hope!

Now that the point is pretty clear that a resume is like a representative of a candidate, it is the responsibility of the candidate to create it in a way that transmit the exact message to the employer that the candidate would have wanted to convey while meeting in person. It is surely a competitive job to manage to write your qualifications, skills and experiences on a single piece of paper that engages the recruiter solely. Convincing the employer through your resume that you are the right pick for a particular job opening is by far the most competitive and challenging task put ahead of the professionals, no matter what industry you belong to.

While you write your resume, you know exactly what words to choose to form a sentence and what would be the impact of it on the recruiter. Disengaged and wrong selection of words would never be able to transmit the true message. Therefore, reading different types of resumes related to your field is a mature thing to do. After repeated attempts, you would finally be able to form a rough pattern of how you should write your resume in your mind. This rough draft would act as a tool for you once you decide to sketch out your resume. Another thing to know is that information and credentials that your resume is going to contain must be very verifiable. Some of the employers, if found unsure about the information you’ve provided in your resume, may go for the verification purpose before calling you for the interview. Many candidates get black listed in different companies because their information doesn’t match with the proven record related to their academics and previous employments.

In a nutshell, stay honest if you want your resume to transmit your message honestly and your recruiter would surely be able to appreciate your honest effort.
